Uptown Westerville is a Place Good Food, Good Deeds, and Good Friends, Part 1

This weekend in Uptown Westerville is full of activity!

First, visit Uptown Westerville Saturday, June 16th between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. for the Garrett Wonders Memorial Bike Race. This event, co-sponsored by Westerville Uptown Merchant's Association member, Westerville Bike Shop and Raisin Rack, is not only for a good cause (the Garrett Wonders Memorial Fund) but it honors a good friend, in Garrett Wonders.

This race is part of the Lance Armstrong Junior Olympics Race series. From a Police and Fire Departments Fat Tire Race to Pro-level racing (there's a $3k pro-racing purse) to kids bike events, there are races for all skill levels and all ages in this exciting event.

Some of the streets of Uptown Westerville will be closed for the races. With the start and finish lines at City Hall, the race course will run from City Hall, north on State Street, east on College to Summit, south on Summit to E. Park, and west on E. Park to State Street, north back to city hall.

And, while State Street will be closed to vehicle traffic, all uptown shops and restaurants are open, including Westerville Bike Shop! So, come uptown to race, shop, dine or watch. Park and State will be the place to watch the fastest turns of the races -- pick up a DQ treat and sit on the lawn at Hanby School!

After, the races, stay uptown for lunch -- check out Westerville Uptown Merchants Association members Michael's Pizza, The Old Bag of Nails Pub, or Pasquale's Pizza and Pasta!

If you have more questions, contact Westerville Bike Shop, 29 W. Main, at 614.891.5654.
