Dear Friends of meza,

We hope everyone who made it out to the Wines of Napa Valley - Part 1, enjoyed themselves!

We had a great crowd and tried some great wines! A big favorite was the Joseph Carr Napa Cabernet - $21.99. Fabulous! Looking for a great spring wine? The Beringer Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing wine with a citrus finish. What could be better to enjoy on a warm day? At our special low price of $9.99, it's a winner!

We look forward to seeing you all again on Friday May 8th for the "Hot Spanish Wines" tasting (this date has changed from our last newsletter). Popularity of wines from Spain has been on the rise in the past 10 years and we at Meza are loving what we are tasting! Join us in turning up the heat and trying some exciting Spanish wines at even more exciting prices!

Fourth Friday and $1 Wine Tastings! We are welcoming back the Fourth Fridays in Uptown Westerville starting this Friday! New Featured Wines: These new additions to our assortment are not only unique and highly acclaimed, but they are a great value! Try one today! Montes Cherub Rose 2008: Drink Pink! The 2008 Montes Cherub Rose is a hot pink wine (literally, thanks to the Syrah grape) that brings a fresh look and flavor to today's Rose. A vibrant, flavor-filled Rose from Chile's coastal region. The flavor profile offers rich red fruit, mainly strawberry and cherry with a touch of orange and spice. A fantastic wine for summer gatherings. Consider pairing with shrimp, fish or prosciutto appetizers. Recently featured on the Today Show! $15.99

Fat Bastard Chardonnay 2007: To create this Chardonnay, grapes are sourced from the banks of the Rhone in the east to Carcassonne in the west, and from the foothills of the Massif Central in the north to the Mediterranean coast in the south. Round in the mouth with white flower aromas and a long, toasty finish - this is a great weeknight wine, perfect with poultry or a cream based sauce over pasta. $9.99

Merum Monastrell 2005 - Jumilla, Spain: This Spanish blend is made up of 85% Monastrell grapes, along with some Syrah and Temperanillo. This is a medium to full bodied wine, with black fruit notes on the nose that carried through on the palate, well balanced, long and layered finish. A great example of Spain's hot value wines at a fantastic price! $9.99

Featured Wine of the Month: "Attention fans of Orin Swift's "The Prisoner" and "Papillon" - owner/winemaker Dave Phinney is pleased to introduce the inaugural release of "Saldo," a California Zinfandel. The name, which can sometimes be used to mean "from here and there" in Spanish, speaks to Phinney's choice to break free of the chains of a single AVA to make a wine that includes grapes from some of the best vineyards in Sonoma, Napa, Amador, Mendocino and Contra Costa Counties. There's a dash of Syrah and half as much Petite Sirah (totaling 15% of the blend) in this nearly-opaque, ruby-colored wine." - KL Wines. Tasting Notes: Raspberry, rhubarb, wood smoke and sweet vanilla on the nose. These tones carry over to the palate where they are joined by sweet spring strawberry and root beer. Broad and long on the palate, this is a wine you'll want to enjoy often over the next five years. This a big, full, juicy wine that has layers of depth and flavor. Try 'Saldo' with smoked ribs, or bbq chicken or steak for a combination to be savored!'Saldo' Zinfandel $29.99 (Stock up and receive 10% off of a case!)

Uptown Westerville is a Place for Silhouette Profiles

The art of silhouette (think of the famous images of film director Alfred Hitchock) has been around since the late 1750s and started in France. This art of detailed paper cutting in-profile is named for a French finance minister named Etienne de Silhouette. Before the advent of photographs, silhouette portraits were a popular, affordable way to reflect someone's appearance.

This weekend, stop by A Gal Named Cinda Lou, 20 N. State and meet Silhouette Artist Anne B. Wildman. Anne will be creating silhouettes for just $10 -- 2 silhouettes for the same person -- while you sit.

At just $10 a sitting, silhouettes are a wonderful small indulgence and will make a thoughtful Mother's Day gift.

Stop by A Gal Named Cinda Lou this Saturday, April 25th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 26th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
