The Community of Westerville is sponsoring an Honor Flight or Westerville WWII Vets on October 10, 2009.
The City of Westerville shares:The Westerville Lions Club, the American Legion Post #171 and the Westerville Honor Flight Committee will host a Pancake Breakfast, with proceeds to benefit the Honor Flight. Members of the School Board, City Council and City staff will serve food and bus tables for breakfast patrons, many of whom will be veterans dressed in recognition of their branch of service.
Jeff Reschke, organizer of the Pancake Breakfast, says that while the Honor Flight is an established program, Westerville is the first to sponsor a flight as a whole community.
"The breakfast is really just the beginning of what the Westerville community is going to do for the Honor Flight," said Reschke. "Thanks to several community organizations that have jumped in to help, along with local businesses that have donated product, time or money, the morning is going to be a celebration of getting these veterans closer to this trip."
